Pay: £96 – £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only
DBS Required: Enhanced DBS on the Update ServiceAbout the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive primary or secondary school in Westminster this September. This full-time position is ideal for recent graduates who are considering a career in teaching, psychology, education, or related fields and want to gain first-hand classroom experience.
You will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to support pupils across a range of subjects and needs, including students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) or those requiring additional academic support. This is a fantastic stepping stone into teacher training or further education roles.
Key Responsibilities
Provide in-class support to pupils under the guidance of the class teacher
Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning and raise attainment
Assist in planning and delivering interventions for pupils with specific learning needs
Support the social and emotional development of students, where appropriate
Encourage positive learning behaviours and help maintain a productive classroom environment
Monitor and record progress, contributing to pupil assessments
Help prepare teaching resources and classroom displays
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment
Requirements
A degree (any subject) – 2:2 or above preferred
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (mandatory)
Strong academic background and communication skills
A genuine interest in working with children and young people
Patience, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to supporting learning
Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced teaching staff
Previous experience working with children (voluntary or paid) is desirable but not essential
