Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am - 4pm
Location: Kingston Upon Thames
Salary: £96-£105
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant –Kingston Upon Thames
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of learning, emotional, and behavioural needs. Your role will be vital in helping children access the curriculum, develop essential life skills, and achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Provide one-on-one assistance to students with special educational needs including Autism, ADHD, Challenging behaviour
- Report concerns to the teacher or SENCO
- Adapt teaching materials and methods to suit individual learning styles and abilities
- Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies.
- Provide emotional support and encourage social interaction.
- Lead Comprehension and phonics interventions with groups of SEND students
- Observe and record progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Encourage independence and build student confidence
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Kingston Upon Thames
- Experience in a similar role/ Leading Interventions
- Experience working with SEND needs
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
