Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Job Type: 8:30am -4pm

Location: Richmond Upon Thames

Salary: £96-£105

The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant –Richmond Upon Thames

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be working SEND students who require induvial support in a classroom environment and with 1:1 support. You will be working with vulnerable children working to build social skills and building academic attainment.

You will become a part of a collaborative and inclusive team environment at a respected school with outstanding facilities. They have a mission to provide children of all abilities the best start in life along with providing staff fantastic carer progression and support.

A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to students with special educational needs including Autism, ADHD, Challenging behaviour
  • Lead Social, Maths and English interventions with groups of SEND students
  • Adapt teaching materials and methods to suit individual learning styles and abilities
  • Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Provide emotional support and encourage social interaction.
  • Observe and record progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Report concerns to the teacher or SENCO
  • Encourage independence and build student confidence

Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Richmond Upon Thames

  • Experience in a similar role/ Leading Interventions
  • Experience working with SEND needs
  • Enhanced DBS is required
  • Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
