About the Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant specialising in Mathematics, you will work closely with the Maths department to support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5). You will assist in delivering engaging lessons, provide targeted academic support, and help foster a positive and productive classroom environment.Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of Mathematics lessons alongside class teachers
- Provide one-to-one and small group interventions for students who require additional support
- Assist in planning and preparing lesson materials and classroom resources
- Help to monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Encourage student engagement, motivation, and confidence in Mathematics
- Support students with varying abilities, including those with special educational needs (SEN)
- Assist with classroom management to maintain a focused learning environment
- Contribute to after-school revision sessions or booster classes where required
- Uphold school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour management procedures
Requirements
- A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject (essential)
- A strong academic background and subject knowledge in Mathematics
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Patience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to supporting students
- Previous experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
- A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting)
