Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceAbout the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Borehamwood. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, providing the opportunity to support pupils across the primary age range in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging lessons, provide small-group and one-to-one support, and contribute to the overall development and well-being of pupils. Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable, though not essential.
Key Responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering high-quality lessons and activities.
Work with pupils individually or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
Provide targeted support for children with additional needs, including SEN, where required.
Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.
Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
Support pupils’ social and emotional development, encouraging independence and confidence.
Supervise pupils during non-classroom times such as lunch and break.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in an educational support role is desirable.
SEN experience is advantageous but not essential.
A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and well-being.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, proactive, and flexible in approach.
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
