We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Watford. This is a full-time role with an immediate start, offering the chance to work closely with pupils, teachers, and support staff to help deliver high-quality education.
The successful candidate will provide in-class support across the primary age range, assist with small-group and one-to-one learning, and play a key role in promoting pupil progress and well-being. While not essential, previous experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
Work with pupils individually and in small groups to support learning objectives.
Assist pupils with a range of abilities, including those with SEN, to help them achieve their potential.
Contribute to the management of classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
Help prepare learning materials and resources under the direction of the teacher.
Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and areas requiring additional support.
Support pupils with their social and emotional development, encouraging confidence and independence.
Supervise pupils during non-classroom times, such as lunch or break duties.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
Experience supporting children with SEN is desirable.
A genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting pupil development.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Flexible, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions from teaching staff.
An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
