Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am – 4pm
Location: Sutton
Salary: £100–£110 Per dayThe Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Sutton
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a Primary school in Sutton. This role is ideal for someone with extensive experience supporting children with complex and varied needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, and SEMH.
You will play a key role in delivering tailored support both in and out of the classroom, working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and senior staff to create a positive and structured learning environment. This position requires a confident and proactive individual who can lead small group activities, implement behaviour plans, and provide high levels of emotional and academic support.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
• Provide high-level support for pupils with complex and multiple special educational needs
• Confidently implement EHCP targets and personalised learning programmes
• Use specialist strategies and tools such as PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, or sensory integration techniques
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management using de-escalation strategies
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals
• Assist in leading small group interventions and deliver differentiated support
• Monitor pupil progress, maintain detailed records, and contribute to review meetings
• Provide support with personal care or physical needs, where requiredQualifications and Requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Sutton
• Significant prior experience supporting children with SEN in a school, SEN setting, or specialist provision
• In-depth understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and/or complex learning needs
• Knowledge of SEN strategies, interventions, and communication systems
• Enhanced DBS is essential
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
