Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Barnet
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Barnet, London
Contract Type: Full-time, long-termEducate Staffing is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN TA to join a supportive and inclusive school in Barnet. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children with special educational needs and is eager to help pupils thrive both academically and socially.
As an SEN TA in Barnet, you will be working closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide individual and small group support for pupils who require additional assistance. You will play a vital role in ensuring children with SEN are able to access the curriculum, develop key life skills, and reach their full potential in a safe and encouraging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
As an SEN TA, your role will include:
Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Working one-to-one or with small groups to deliver targeted support.
Assisting the class teacher in adapting lessons and resources to meet pupils’ needs.
Encouraging independence, resilience, and confidence in pupils.
Helping to manage behaviour positively and promoting inclusion in the classroom.
Monitoring and recording pupil progress and feeding back to teachers and the SENCO.
Contributing to a positive, safe, and engaging school environment.
Requirements
To be successful as an SEN TA in Barnet, you will need:
Experience supporting children with SEN in a school, childcare, or community setting (desirable but not essential).
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build good relationships with pupils and staff.
The ability to follow guidance from teachers while also using your initiative.
Flexibility and a genuine commitment to helping children succeed.
A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
