Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am – 4pm
Location: Wandsworth
Salary: £96–£105 Per dayThe Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with a range of special educational needs in a dedicated SEN school in Wandsworth. Pupils may have Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, or complex medical conditions. You will work closely with experienced teaching staff, therapists, and support teams to provide consistent, high-quality care and education.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will help pupils develop communication skills, independence, and confidence in a supportive and well-resourced SEN school environment.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs
• Assist with classroom activities, sensory work, and therapy sessions
• Implement personalised learning plans and communication strategies
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and transitions throughout the day
• Adapt lesson materials and routines to meet pupils’ individual learning needs
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
• Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Support pupils with personal care needs where requiredQualifications and Requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism or complex needs
• Understanding of SEN approaches such as visual aids, sensory strategies, or behaviour support plans
• Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) is essential
