Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am – 4pm
Location: Lewisham
Salary: £96–£105 Per dayThe Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Lewisham
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with Autism within a mainstream primary school setting in Lewisham. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide personalised support that enables pupils to access the curriculum, develop social skills, and thrive in the classroom environment.
Your role will involve one-to-one and small group work, focusing on communication, emotional regulation, and academic engagement. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
• Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism across different year groups
• Assist with the delivery of structured interventions and classroom activities
• Adapt teaching resources to meet individual learning needs and styles
• Support communication development, including the use of visual aids or alternative communication methods
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being in line with the school’s policies
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
• Monitor and report on pupil progress, engagement and behaviour

• Previous experience supporting children with Autism (in a school or similar setting)
• Understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and associated support strategies
• Enhanced DBS is essential
