Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am -4pm
Location: Islington
Salary: £96-£110 Per day
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Islington
As a SEN TA, you will support children across the primary age range, helping pupils with needs such as Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will provide one-to-one support as well as small group interventions, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to access learning and thrive both academically and socially.
Working alongside class teachers and the SENCO, you will help adapt lessons and resources to suit individual needs, encourage positive behaviour, and provide emotional and pastoral support. This role is key in building children’s confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning, making a real difference to their school experience.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Support pupils with additional needs during lessons, group work and individual activities.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated learning.
- Adapt and prepare resources to ensure accessibility for all pupils.
- Provide one-to-one support and run small intervention groups.
- Encourage positive behaviour, resilience and self-regulation.
- Support pupils’ social development and wellbeing both in and outside the classroom.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, the SENCO, parents and outside agencies.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Islington
- Experience in a similar role
- Experience working with SEND needs
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
