Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am -4pm, September Start
Location: Waltham Forest
Salary: £96-£110 Per Day
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Waltham Forest
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students across Primary School providing tailored support both in and outside of the classroom. You will assist in delivering targeted interventions designed to raise attainment, boost confidence, and help students access the curriculum. Working under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching staff, you’ll be part of a committed team focused on inclusion, progress, and pupil wellbeing.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs
- Support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, adapting approaches according to age, ability, and individual needs.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of targeted academic interventions to help raise attainment in core subjects
- Modify and differentiate learning materials to ensure accessibility for all pupils.
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and EHCP targets.
- Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to class teachers and the SENCO.
- Support the emotional, social, and behavioural development of children with additional needs.
- Support pupils with autism and complex needs to access learning in a calm and positive way
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Waltham Forest
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN
- A calm, positive, and flexible approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff
