SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School (Hounslow)
Location: Hounslow, West London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time, ongoing (long-term placement)About the Role
Educate Staffing is looking for a motivated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Hounslow. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including learning difficulties, ADHD, ASD, or social and emotional challenges.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support, helping pupils engage with the curriculum and achieve their potential. The school fosters a nurturing and inclusive environment, and this role is available for an immediate start, with opportunities for long-term placement.
Key Responsibilities
1:1 & Small Group Support
Work directly with pupils requiring additional support, delivering personalised interventions.
Assist with literacy, numeracy, speech and language, or social skills programmes.
Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive behaviour strategies.
Classroom Assistance
Support teachers in delivering lessons adapted to meet the needs of all learners.
Encourage pupils’ engagement and participation during classroom activities.
Promote an inclusive learning environment for every child.
Behaviour & Emotional Support
Implement positive behaviour management techniques for pupils with SEMH needs.
Build strong relationships with pupils to foster trust, security, and self-esteem.
Support pupils in developing coping skills, social interactions, and resilience.
Additional Duties
Maintain records of pupil progress and communicate observations with the SENCO and teaching team.
Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and displays.
Supervise pupils during break times, transitions, and other school activities as required.
Requirements
Experience working with children with SEN (school experience preferred).
Patience, empathy, and a calm, supportive approach to behaviour management.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff while also using initiative.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through the agency.
Right to work in the UK.
