Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am – 4pm, September Start
Location: Hackney
Salary: £96-£115 Per Day
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Hackney
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will join an inclusive and nurturing Secondary school environment. This is a full-time, term-time role supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work under the direction of the SENCO and teaching staff to provide both academic and emotional support for students with autism and additional learning needs. The role will involve a balance of in-class support and targeted intervention sessions to help students make progress in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science. You will also support the development of students’ communication, social, and independence skills, helping to prepare them for future learning and life beyond school.
This is a varied and rewarding position that requires flexibility, initiative, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that every child is able to access the curriculum, engage in their learning, and achieve their full potential.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Provide targeted in-class and out-of-class support to students with autism.
- Deliver academic and social interventions under the guidance of SENCO and teaching staff.
- Help develop and implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies.
- Monitor progress and adapt strategies to meet the evolving needs of students.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure cohesive support
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Hackney
- Experience working with secondary students
- Experience working with SEND needs
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
