Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am – 4pm, September Start
Location: Redbridge
Salary: £96-£105 Per Day
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Redbridge
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be working with students in Years 7 to 9 who need additional support both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis. This is a rewarding and varied role where you will support students with a range of additional needs—such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, or mental health challenges. You’ll play a vital part in helping them to transition smoothly into secondary school, build confidence, and access the curriculum in a meaningful way. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong, supportive relationships and who understands the unique challenges that Key Stage 3 students may face as they navigate early secondary school life.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Provide targeted 1:1 support to pupils, both in and out of the classroom
- Assist students in accessing learning across a range of subjects, adapting materials where necessary
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation, using supportive strategies tailored to individual needs
- Collaborate with teaching staff and the SEND department to plan and deliver differentiated learning
- Support students’ social skills and self-esteem through mentoring and encouragement
- Contribute to monitoring progress and updating learning plans or EHCP targets as needed
- Foster independence while remaining a consistent, trusted adult presence for the students you support
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Redbridge
- Experience working with secondary students
- Experience working with SEND needs
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
