  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in a timely and constructive manner

  • Work closely with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and share best practices

  • Contribute to department and whole-school initiatives aimed at improving outcomes

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning

  • Participate in school events, parent evenings, and extra-curricular activities

  • A degree in English or a closely related field

  • A strong subject knowledge across both Language and Literature

  • Ability to teach all secondary key stages, including A-Level

  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching in a high-achieving school setting

  • Evidence of strong student outcomes and effective classroom management

  • Familiarity with recent curriculum developments in English

  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the school’s extra-curricular programme (e.g., creative writing, debating, school productions)

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work in an Ofsted Outstanding school with a reputation for excellence

  • A committed and supportive staff body focused on continuous improvement

  • Access to high-quality professional development and training opportunities

  • A well-resourced English department with a culture of innovation and success

  • Enthusiastic, respectful, and hardworking students who are keen to learn

  • Strong support from SLT and a well-established mentoring programme for new staff

  • Excellent facilities including modern classrooms, a dedicated sixth form centre, and digital learning resources
