The Role
We are looking for a qualified English Teacher who can teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. You will join a forward-thinking department that values innovation, collaboration, and a passion for language and literature. Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum
Teach English Language and Literature to students across all year groups, including GCSE and A-Level
Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in a timely and constructive manner
Work closely with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and share best practices
Contribute to department and whole-school initiatives aimed at improving outcomes
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning
Participate in school events, parent evenings, and extra-curricular activities
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable English specialist with a strong academic background and a commitment to outstanding teaching and learning.
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
A degree in English or a closely related field
A strong subject knowledge across both Language and Literature
Ability to teach all secondary key stages, including A-Level
A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Excellent organisational and communication skills
A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school
Desirable:
Experience teaching in a high-achieving school setting
Evidence of strong student outcomes and effective classroom management
Familiarity with recent curriculum developments in English
Enthusiasm for contributing to the school’s extra-curricular programme (e.g., creative writing, debating, school productions)
