Salary: £140 - £200 a day
As an English Teacher, you will be a key member of a forward-thinking English department, contributing to the academic and personal development of students across KS3 – KS4.This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled educator to deliver a dynamic and enriching English curriculum that prepares students for success at GCSE level and fosters a lifelong appreciation of literature, language, and effective communication.
You will teach a varied timetable of English Language and Literature lessons, using your in-depth knowledge of the curriculum to plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences tailored to students of differing abilities. Your role will involve guiding students through complex texts, developing their critical thinking and writing skills, and preparing them thoroughly for their GCSE examinations. You will be given opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, creative writing workshops, theatre trips, and literacy-focused school events, all of which are highly valued by both students and staff.
A English Teacher will be expected to:
- Teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across KS3 – KS4 classes
- Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive learning environment.
- Establish rules and expectations for student in both classroom and experiment settings.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school meetings.
Qualifications and requirements – English Teacher – Barking and Dagenham
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Strong classroom practice and subject knowledge, particularly in KS3–KS4 English
- Experience of planning and delivering lessons aligned with the national curriculum and exam board requirements
- A creative and reflective teacher who can adapt to meet the needs of all learners
- A commitment to raising achievement and encouraging a lifelong love of reading and writing
