Educate Staffing is seeking a committed and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Broxbourne from September 2025. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and is looking to make a lasting difference in their educational journey.This role will involve working closely with children who have a range of additional needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and speech and language difficulties. You will be providing targeted support in both one-to-one and small group settings, helping pupils access learning and develop confidence in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their individual targets.
Support teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Assist in implementing behaviour management plans, EHCP targets, and learning support strategies.
Help pupils develop independence, social skills, and emotional resilience.
Collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistent support for each child.
Prepare learning materials and classroom resources adapted to meet the specific needs of individual pupils.
Observe and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and contributing to reports.
Uphold school safeguarding policies and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Person Specification:
Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school, childcare, or support role is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of common learning difficulties, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting children’s learning and personal development.
Confident in managing challenging behaviours in a calm, proactive manner.
Good communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to thrive in their education.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
A valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one before starting.
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications & Training:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a degree in a related field (e.g., Education, Psychology).
Additional training such as Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or other SEN-specific programs would be beneficial but not essential.
