A well-regarded and inclusive primary school in St Albans, Hertfordshire is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 (KS2) Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This role is specifically focused on supporting a Year 5 classroom, offering an excellent opportunity to work within a vibrant and supportive school environment.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children in upper primary education and is looking to make a meaningful impact in pupils’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Year 5 class teacher with classroom activities and learning objectives
Assist with lesson planning, resource preparation, and classroom organisation
Provide one-on-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional help
Encourage pupil engagement, motivation, and good behaviour in line with school policies
Help monitor and track pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience working with children, ideally within a KS2 classroom
Confident supporting literacy and numeracy at upper primary level
Enthusiastic, reliable, and patient with strong communication skills
An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Available to work full-time, term-time only, from September 2025
