KS2 Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Full-Time, Term-Time)

Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: Competitive daily rates (paid weekly)

About the Role

A well-regarded and inclusive primary school in St Albans, Hertfordshire is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 (KS2) Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This role is specifically focused on supporting a Year 5 classroom, offering an excellent opportunity to work within a vibrant and supportive school environment.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children in upper primary education and is looking to make a meaningful impact in pupils’ academic and personal development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Year 5 class teacher with classroom activities and learning objectives

  • Assist with lesson planning, resource preparation, and classroom organisation

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional help

  • Encourage pupil engagement, motivation, and good behaviour in line with school policies

  • Help monitor and track pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students


Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within a KS2 classroom

  • Confident supporting literacy and numeracy at upper primary level

  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and patient with strong communication skills

  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Available to work full-time, term-time only, from September 2025
