Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time OnlyThe Role:
Educate Staffing is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in the Dacorum area to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 2 from September 2025.This full-time role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them to achieve their full potential. You will be working closely with individual pupils and small groups, supporting learning, promoting positive behaviour, and helping children develop confidence and independence in the classroom environment.
Pupils may present with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays. The role will require patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to managing learning and behaviour needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN in Key Stage 2, ensuring they are fully engaged in learning activities.
Assist the class teacher with the preparation and delivery of differentiated lessons to meet the needs of individual learners.
Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive learning habits.
Implement behaviour support strategies and contribute to the delivery of EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) targets.
Adapt learning resources to suit pupils’ needs and encourage independent learning where appropriate.
Observe and report on pupil progress, behaviour, and engagement, contributing to termly reviews and staff discussions.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external specialists to provide consistent support to pupils.
Promote safeguarding and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment at all times.
Person Specification:
Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in a KS2 classroom or primary setting.
A strong understanding of additional learning needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
A calm, adaptable, and patient manner with a positive, solution-focused approach.
Confident in promoting positive behaviour and supporting children through emotional or behavioural challenges.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
Ability to follow plans and guidance from teaching staff while using initiative when supporting children’s needs.
A valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or a degree in Education, Psychology, or a related subject.
Additional SEN training such as Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or Autism awareness would be beneficial.
