Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am -4pm
Location: Islington
Salary: £96-£105
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant –Islington
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to aid the development of a variety of Year 1 students with Autism, ADHD, Global Delay Traits and Challenging Behaviour academically and socially through carrying out sensory interventions and bucket time. As the successful applicant, you will join a dedicated team in a fantastic Primary school in Islington area.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Provide support to year 1 students with special educational needs including Autism, ADHD, Challenging behaviour
- Lead Social, Maths and English interventions with groups of SEND students
- Adapt teaching materials and methods to suit individual learning styles and abilities
- Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies.
- Provide emotional support and encourage social interaction.
- Observe and record progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Report concerns to the teacher or SENCO
- Encourage independence and build student confidence
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Islington
- Experience in a similar role/ leading sensory time
- Experience working with SEND needs
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
