If so, we invite you to apply for the position of Business Studies Teacher and Head of Department at an ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Enfield.

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Business Studies professional with a proven track record of excellent teaching and, ideally, experience in leading a department. This role offers the chance to lead and further develop a growing Business Studies department, working collaboratively with committed colleagues to deliver outstanding outcomes for students at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

This is an exciting time to join this school as they continue to expand and strengthen their post-16 offer in Business Studies and related subjects.

The Role: Business Studies Teacher & Head of Department

As Head of Business Studies, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the department. You will lead curriculum planning, quality assurance, assessment strategies, and team development, while maintaining your own high standards of teaching. This role is ideally suited to an experienced Business Studies teacher looking to take the next step in their career or an established department leader seeking a new and rewarding challenge.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading the Business Studies department with vision, creativity, and rigour

  • Teaching Business Studies across Key Stages 4 and 5, including GCSE and A-Level

  • Designing and implementing a forward-thinking and engaging Business Studies curriculum

  • Monitoring and improving teaching and learning standards within the department

  • Supporting student progress, attainment, and aspirations in Business Studies

  • Mentoring and developing colleagues within the department

  • Contributing to whole-school initiatives and leadership planning

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in Business Studies education and pedagogy

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an outstanding Business Studies teacher who is passionate about their subject and its relevance to students’ futures. You will be someone who can inspire students with your enthusiasm for Business Studies, and someone who is confident in their ability to lead and support others in delivering excellent teaching and learning.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Degree in Business, Economics, or a closely related subject

  • Extensive experience teaching Business Studies at secondary level (including A-Level)

  • A proven track record of excellent classroom practice and student outcomes

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as Head of Department or in a middle leadership role

  • Experience of developing curriculum plans and assessments in Business Studies

  • Ability to innovate and drive improvement within a subject team

  • A sound understanding of current educational issues affecting Business Studies

Why Join Us?

  • A thriving Business Studies department with strong uptake at GCSE and A-Level

  • A school culture that values academic excellence, inclusivity, and personal growth

  • Enthusiastic, well-behaved students who are eager to learn about Business Studies and the world of enterprise

  • A dedicated and supportive SLT and governing body

  • Access to tailored professional development opportunities

  • Well-resourced classrooms and excellent facilities for teaching Business Studies

  • Commitment to staff wellbeing, work-life balance, and career progression
