EYFS Teaching Assistant – Full-Time (Primary School)

Location: Islington, North London
Hours: Full-Time, Term Time Only (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm)
Salary: £96 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Long-term with potential for permanent placement
Start Date: ASAP
DBS Requirement: Must have an Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)


Are you a nurturing and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting early years education? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is seeking a full-time EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the educational foundations of young learners, supporting both their academic and social development in a vibrant, play-based environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering a stimulating and nurturing EYFS curriculum.

  • Work closely with pupils aged 3–5 to encourage language, motor, and social development.

  • Assist with phonics, number work, storytelling, and creative activities.

  • Promote positive relationships and emotional security for all children.

  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment.

  • Contribute to observations and assessments of children’s progress (experience with EYFS framework desirable).

  • Provide additional support to pupils with EAL or additional needs as required.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience working with children in an EYFS setting (nursery or school-based).

  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and development milestones.

  • Warm, patient, and proactive approach to learning and care.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Confident using play-based learning strategies and behaviour management techniques.

  • Level 2 or 3 childcare qualification is desirable but not essential.


Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply).

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Able to commit to a full-time, term-time role (8:30am – 3:30pm).

  • Two references from previous roles working with children.
