British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow is seeking a dedicated and skilled British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a full-time role supporting pupils with hearing impairments, helping them to access learning and thrive within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils using BSL
• Facilitate communication between pupils, teachers, and peers
• Support access to the curriculum across a range of subjects
• Work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to implement tailored learning strategies
• Promote inclusion and independence for pupils with additional needs

Requirements:

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL)
• Experience working with children, ideally within a school setting
• A valid DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
• Availability to work full-time and start immediately
• Strong communication skills and a patient, supportive approach
