Job Title: SEMH Teacher (Primary)
Location: Hillingdon, Greater London
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: ASAPAbout the Role
We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a dedicated team at a specialist, Ofsted Outstanding primary school in Hillingdon. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to small classes of pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. The successful candidate will create a safe, nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, personalised lessons tailored to pupils’ individual needs
- Support pupils with SEMH needs, including those with associated learning difficulties or challenging behaviours
- Develop positive relationships that promote trust, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual education plans (IEPs)
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress effectively
- Foster a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs (in mainstream or specialist settings)
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approach
- A commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
