An inclusive and well-established 4-form entry primary school in Edgware, Barnet is seeking a dedicated and motivated Year 5 Class Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis with an ASAP start.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 5 class, working closely with parallel class teachers to deliver high-quality teaching and learning in line with the National Curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners

• Teach the Year 5 curriculum effectively, ensuring progression and challenge

• Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, adapting teaching to support and extend learning

• Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment

• Work collaboratively with year group colleagues on planning, assessment and moderation

• Communicate effectively with parents, carers and colleagues

• Contribute to staff meetings, training and whole-school initiatives

• Support pupils’ social, emotional and academic development

• Uphold safeguarding, behaviour and school policies at all times

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5 (or strong relevant placements)

• Strong knowledge of the primary National Curriculum

• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons

• Good behaviour management and classroom organisation skills

• A commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all pupils

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
