Teaching Assistant
Location: Hemel Hempstead
Contract: Full Time
Start Date: ASAPWe are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive school in Hemel Hempstead to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant for an immediate start. This role is offered through our education recruitment agency and is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting pupils and making a positive impact within the classroom.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils across the school day, helping to ensure all students are able to access learning in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. You may be required to work with individuals, small groups, or provide general classroom support, depending on the needs of the school.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery
Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils
Assisting pupils with their learning, including reading, writing, and numeracy activities
Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEN, where required
Encouraging positive behaviour and helping to manage classroom routines
Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
Supervising pupils during activities, transitions, and break times when required
Following safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other support staff
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one immediately)
Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting
A patient, caring, and reliable approach to supporting pupils
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the school and pupils
A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection
The legal right to work in the UK
