Job Title: KS1 Teacher – Maternity Cover
Location: Harrow, London
Start Date: January 2026 (handover days in December)
Contract Type: Full-time, 1-year maternity cover (with potential to be extended)We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teacher to join a friendly and supportive two-form entry primary school in Harrow. This maternity cover position is for Year 1, starting in January 2026, with handover days in December to ensure a smooth transition for the class. The contract is for one year, with the possibility of extension beyond the initial period.
About the Role
As a KS1 Teacher in Year 1, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning across all curriculum areas in line with the National Curriculum. You will plan and teach engaging lessons tailored to the needs of your Year 1 pupils, promoting academic progress, personal development, and a love of learning.
This role is ideal for both experienced teachers and early career teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about KS1 teaching, particularly in Year 1, and are committed to making a positive impact on children’s learning and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
As a KS1 Teacher in Year 1, you will:
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons for your Year 1 class across all subjects.
Provide a stimulating, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all Year 1 pupils.
Support the academic, social, and emotional development of your KS1 pupils.
Use assessment, observation, and feedback to monitor progress and inform planning for your Year 1 class.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, the leadership team, and support staff to enhance teaching and learning across KS1.
Contribute to school initiatives, promoting high standards of teaching and learning in Year 1.
Requirements
To be successful in this KS1 Teacher Year 1 role, you will need:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – ECTs are welcome to apply.
Experience or strong interest in teaching KS1, ideally in Year 1.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate KS1 pupils.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
A commitment to providing high-quality education in KS1 and promoting the school’s values.
