Job Title: KS1 Teacher – Maternity Cover
Location: Harrow, London
Start Date: December 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, 1-year maternity cover (with potential for extension)

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic KS1 Teacher to join a friendly and dynamic two-form entry primary school in Harrow. This position is for a one-year maternity cover, working in Year 2, starting in December 2025, with handover days scheduled in November to ensure a smooth transition. There is potential for the role to be extended beyond the initial 12 months.

About the Role

As a KS1 Teacher working in Year 2, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in line with the National Curriculum. You will plan and teach engaging lessons that meet the needs of all pupils in your KS1 Year 2 class, ensuring progress and attainment across all curriculum areas.

This is an exciting opportunity for both experienced teachers and early career teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about making a difference in KS1, specifically in Year 2, and who are ready to join a supportive and collaborative school environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a KS1 Teacher in Year 2, you will:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across all subjects.

  • Provide a stimulating, inclusive, and safe learning environment for your Year 2 class.

  • Support the academic, social, and emotional development of all KS1 pupils in your care.

  • Use assessment and feedback to track progress and inform planning for your Year 2 class.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, the leadership team, and support staff to enhance teaching and learning across the school.

  • Contribute to school initiatives and maintain high standards of professionalism in KS1 teaching.

Requirements

To be successful in this KS1 Teacher role, you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – ECTs are welcome to apply.

  • Experience or interest in teaching KS1, ideally in Year 2.

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate KS1 pupils.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents.

  • A commitment to providing high-quality education in KS1 and promoting the school’s values.

Benefits

As a KS1 Teacher in Year 2, you will receive:

  • A competitive salary in line with national teacher pay scales.

  • A full-time, one-year maternity cover contract, with potential for extension.

  • Handover days in November to ensure continuity for Year 2 pupils.

  • A supportive, collaborative, and professional school environment.

  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate KS1 Teacher to join a thriving school community in Harrow and make a real impact in Year 2.
