Job Type: 8:30am - 4pm

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a resilient and experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated SEN secondary school in Wandsworth. This role involves working closely with students who have complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs, often associated with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH. You will play a crucial role in supporting students both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them to manage their behaviour, engage with learning, and build positive relationships.
This position requires someone who is confident in using positive behaviour management strategies, and who has received Team Teach or other restraint training. The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers, therapists, and the pastoral team to provide a structured, supportive learning environment where students feel safe, respected, and able to succeed.
You will be joining a specialist setting that takes pride in its inclusive and therapeutic approach to education. Staff are well-supported through ongoing CPD and behaviour management training, and the school offers excellent facilities to support students' development.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for students with challenging behaviour and additional learning needs
• Assist in implementing personalised behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies
• Use Team Teach or similar techniques to ensure a safe and structured environment
• Help maintain a calm, positive atmosphere that supports emotional regulation and learning

• Experience working in a SEN or alternative provision setting
• Comfortable working with students who display challenging behaviour
• Valid Team Teach or equivalent restraint training (essential)
