The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Brent
Educate Staffing is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the London Borough of Brent.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Autism and ADHD to thrive both academically and socially. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will deliver tailored support to ensure that lessons are accessible, engaging, and suited to each child’s individual needs. This may include one-to-one support, small group work, or helping pupils remain focused and confident in whole-class settings.
Beyond academic support, you will also focus on developing pupils’ social skills, emotional wellbeing, and independence. Using positive behaviour strategies, you will encourage resilience and self-regulation, helping pupils overcome challenges and celebrate their achievements. Collaboration will be central to this role, as you work alongside teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for each child.
Key Responsibilities – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Brent
Support pupils with Autism and ADHD in their learning and development, both in and out of the classroom.
Assist teachers in creating engaging, tailored lessons and activities.
Help pupils build confidence, independence, and social skills.
Manage behaviour calmly and positively, using strategies that encourage focus and self-regulation.
Work closely with teachers, parents, and the SEN team to ensure pupils are fully supported.
Qualifications and Requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Brent
Previous experience in a similar role.
Experience supporting children with SEND needs.
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
Ability to remain calm and problem-solve under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
