Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceEducate Staffing is recruiting for a committed and resilient English Teacher (KS3/4) to work within an Alternative Provision School in West Drayton, Hillingdon. This is a rewarding opportunity to support some of the most vulnerable young people in education, providing both academic teaching and pastoral support.
The role is offered on a fixed-term contract, starting immediately, with the potential to move into a permanent role. For the right candidate, there may also be additional management responsibilities.
The Role
You will deliver engaging and tailored English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, many of whom may be unable to access mainstream education due to illness, behavioural needs, or social, emotional, and mental health challenges. A core part of the role will also involve being part of the Pupil Support Team, delivering 1:1 support and tuition to students both in school and, where necessary, off-site.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver creative and differentiated English lessons for KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Provide 1:1 and small group teaching support for students unable to access mainstream education.
Implement strong behaviour management strategies in line with school policy.
Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with diagnosed and undiagnosed conditions.
Build positive, supportive relationships with students to encourage progress and resilience.
Work closely with the wider Pupil Support Team, colleagues, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to learning.
For experienced candidates: take on management responsibilities within the English department or wider school team.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred (unqualified but highly experienced candidates will be considered).
Proven teaching experience with KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
Experience working with young people who present challenging behaviour.
Experience supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
A flexible and resilient approach to teaching in an alternative provision setting.
Essential: Must have a motor vehicle and a clean UK driving licence (to support 1:1 off-site work when required).
