Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am -4pm
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £100 – £130 Per day
The Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Tower Hamlets
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality learning across a Primary school in Tower Hamlets by providing PPA Cover for teachers. This will involve leading whole-class lessons in a range of subjects, following planned work, and ensuring pupils remain engaged, supported, and challenged in their learning. A significant part of your role will also include delivering PE lessons, where you will lead engaging, active, and inclusive sessions that promote teamwork, skill development, and a love of physical activity. Working closely with teaching staff, you will adapt resources to meet the needs of all learners, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and create a positive environment where children can thrive academically and socially. This is a varied and rewarding role that requires confidence, flexibility, and the ability to take initiative when leading learning independently.
A Higher Level Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Deliver planned lessons across a range of subjects to provide PPA cover for class teachers
- Plan, lead, and deliver engaging PE lessons that promote physical activity, teamwork, and skill development
- Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with additional needs
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Lead small group work or interventions to support pupil progress and attainment
- Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, and transitions, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
- Provide constructive feedback to pupils to support learning and personal development
- Work collaboratively with class teachers to prepare resources, assess pupil progress, and contribute to lesson planning where required
- Maintain accurate records of pupil achievement and behaviour when covering lessons
Qualifications and requirements – Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Tower Hamlets
- Holds an HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Has strong classroom management and communication skills
- Can confidently lead learning across a range of subjects and year groups
- Expeirence covering PE lessons is ideal
- Is adaptable, proactive, and able to use their initiative
- Works well as part of a team and builds positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Has a passion for helping children achieve their best
