Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am – 4pm
Location: Wandsworth
Salary: £96-£110 Per day
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be working with a student with ADHD in a Year 1 class. The role involves working one-to-one to help the child engage with learning, develop focus and self-regulation skills, and build confidence both in and out of the classroom. You will provide tailored support with classwork, encourage positive behaviour, and promote social interaction with peers, while also working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents to implement personalised strategies. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing, and motivated to make a real difference in a child’s early education journey.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Providing one-to-one support tailored to the needs of a child with ADHD in Year 1
- Assisting with classroom learning, behaviour regulation, and social interaction
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised strategies
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive relationships
- Track and record progress, feeding back to teachers and parents/carers.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth
- Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within KS1
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Confidence in supporting learning across the curriculum
