Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am -4pm
Location: Wandsworth
Salary: £96-£105 Per day
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant –Wandsworth
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support the academic and social development of Year 3 and Year 4 pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, and Challenging Behaviour. The role involves delivering targeted interventions such as sensory activities and maths and English interventions tailored to individual learning styles. You will be part of a committed support team within a vibrant and inclusive primary school in the Wandsworth area, helping to create a positive and structured environment for every child to thrive.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Provide support to year 3 and Year 4 students with special educational needs including Autism, ADHD, Challenging behaviour
- Lead Maths and English interventions with groups of SEND students
- Adapt teaching materials and methods to suit individual learning styles and abilities
- Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies.
- Provide emotional support and encourage social interaction.
- Observe and record progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Report concerns to the teacher or SENCO
- Encourage independence and build student confidence
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth
- Experience in a similar role/ leading sensory time
- Experience working with SEND needs
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
