Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Job Type: 8:30am -4pm
Location: Richmond Upon Thames
Salary: £96-£110 Per day
The Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Richmond Upon Thames
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be working with a KS2 student with Autism, working to create a safe environment to allow academic and social progression. You will be supporting the student on a 1-2-1 basis, adapting learning materials to ensure it is both accessible and appropriately challenging and tackling communication difficulties. This role provides fantastic career progression and support, working in a school where staff are valued.
A Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
- Working on a 1-2-1 basis with a student with Autism
- Provide personalised academic and emotional support in and out of the classroom
- Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals
- Creating and leading activities that meet the needs of the student
- Use behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm, supportive learning environment
- Support students in developing independence, confidence, and communication skills
- Act as a trusted mentor and positive presence for pupils who may be reluctant learners
Qualifications and requirements – Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Richmond Upon Thames
- Experience in a similar role
- Experience working with SEND needs particularly Autism
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
