About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a nurturing environment where you will be responsible for creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom that supports the development of children aged 3-5 years. You will play a key role in laying the foundation for lifelong learning by delivering high-quality teaching and care in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver inspiring, age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote children’s development across all areas of the EYFS curriculum.

  • Observe, assess, and record each child’s progress and development, using this information to tailor learning experiences to individual needs.

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore.

  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues to support the holistic development and wellbeing of each child.

  • Manage behaviour sensitively and effectively to ensure a calm and productive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with early years practitioners and other professionals to enhance children’s learning experiences and outcomes.

  • Contribute actively to the wider school community, including participating in staff meetings, training, and school events.

  • Ensure strict adherence to safeguarding policies and promote the welfare and safety of all children in your care.

Person Specification / Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) is essential.

  • Proven experience teaching or working in a nursery or early years setting.

  • A deep understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and best practices in early childhood education.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.

  • Ability to differentiate learning to meet the needs of all children, including those with additional needs.

  • A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic approach, with a genuine passion for early years education.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young children.

Benefits of Working with Us

  • Competitive salary package in line with qualifications and experience.

  • Membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development opportunities to support your growth.

  • Supportive leadership and a collaborative team culture.

  • Access to wellbeing initiatives and resources to support your work-life balance.

  • Opportunity to work in a friendly, community-focused early years setting in Welwyn Hatfield.

  • Convenient location with excellent transport links and local amenities.
