Science Teacher – September Start
Location: Barnet, North London
Contract: Full-time, PermanentWe are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to join a high-achieving, mainstream Jewish secondary school in Barnet from September. Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience desirable but not essential)
- Teach across at least two of the three disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), with a specialism welcomed
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
- Contribute to curriculum development within the Science department
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement
- Participate in departmental meetings, parents’ evenings, and whole-school events
- Support students’ personal development and uphold the school’s values
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- A degree in a Science-related subject
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Science education
- Excellent classroom management skills
- A commitment to high standards and student success
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
Working Pattern
The school operates a distinctive timetable:
- Monday–Thursday: first taught lesson begins approximately 12:20–12:25; staff are expected on site from around 11:00
- Friday: starts at approximately 11:15 and finishes at around 12:30 during two terms, or 3:00pm in the final term
