SEN Teaching Assistant – Camden
We are currently seeking a dedicated, patient, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream school in Camden. This is a full-time position, starting as soon as possible, offering an excellent opportunity to support children with additional needs within a classroom setting.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusion and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to support pupils with additional needs within a mainstream classroom environment. You may work 1:1 or in small groups, depending on pupil needs, while also contributing to the wider classroom as a General Teaching Assistant.
You will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, manage behaviour, and develop both academically and socially. The role requires someone who is calm, adaptable, and confident in supporting children who may require additional structure, reassurance, or behavioural support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted support to pupils with SEN, including ASD and ADHD
Support learning within the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
Work 1:1 or with small groups to reinforce learning and engagement
Assist with the implementation of individual support strategies and behaviour plans
Help pupils develop social, emotional, and communication skills
Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and resources
Supervise pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Communicate effectively with teachers and SEN staff regarding pupil progress
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
Have previous experience supporting children with SEN (ASD and/or ADHD desirable)
Be confident working within a mainstream classroom setting
Demonstrate a calm, patient, and nurturing approach
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be flexible and able to adapt to different learning and behavioural needs
Work well as part of a team and take direction from teaching staff
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Requirements
A valid DBS on the Update Service
Right to work in the UK
