Salary: £100 - £105 per day
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time OnlyAbout the Role:
Educate Staffing is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Watford from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term position working within a supportive educational environment that is committed to providing exceptional learning experiences for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).The successful candidate will be working closely with pupils who require additional support, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and other complex learning needs. This role requires patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students’ educational and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
Work one-to-one or in small groups with pupils with a range of SEN, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour management strategies, and EHCP targets.
Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to meet the needs of pupils with learning difficulties.
Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting their emotional well-being, independence, and engagement in learning activities.
Support students in developing social skills and managing transitions throughout the school day.
Prepare and adapt learning materials to support individual learning styles and needs.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents as required.
Work collaboratively with other staff members, outside agencies, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment, following safeguarding and school policies consistently.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school, childcare, residential, or similar setting is highly desirable.
A good understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, and other learning difficulties.
A proactive, resilient, and adaptable approach to working with pupils with diverse needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents.
A genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of children with additional needs.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
A valid Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one prior to starting.
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable but not essential:
Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field.
Training in Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or other SEN-specific strategies.
