About the Role
The successful candidate will take on full teaching responsibilities for a Year 5 class and contribute to the wider life of the school community. You will work alongside a supportive team of fellow Upper Key Stage 2 teachers, benefit from shared planning, and be encouraged to contribute your own ideas and strengths to curriculum development and enrichment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, reflective practitioner who enjoys teaching older primary pupils and is ready to prepare them for the transition to Year 6.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver and assess high-quality lessons in line with the Year 5 curriculum
Provide a structured, engaging and supportive classroom environment
Use assessment data effectively to monitor progress and adapt teaching
Collaborate with year group colleagues and subject leads on planning and delivery
Promote independent learning and critical thinking across all subjects
Uphold high standards of behaviour, inclusion and safeguarding
Communicate regularly with parents/carers and contribute to wider school events
Essential Requirements
UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2, preferably Upper KS2
Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through us)
A solid understanding of the KS2 curriculum, particularly Year 5 expectations
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate older pupils
Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding
Two recent professional references
Desirable Attributes
Familiarity with end-of-key-stage preparation and moderation
Ability to differentiate effectively for a range of abilities, including EAL and SEND
Experience delivering cross-curricular projects or subject leadership
A creative and reflective approach to teaching
Willingness to contribute to extra-curricular clubs or activities
