Our specialist education recruitment agency is proud to be working in partnership with a successful secondary academy in the London Borough of Haringey, most recently judged Good by Ofsted, to recruit an exceptional Head of Mathematics for an April start.
This is a key middle leadership appointment within the academy and presents an excellent opportunity for a driven and experienced Mathematics specialist to lead a core department and contribute significantly to whole-school improvement. The role would suit an established Head of Department or an ambitious Maths practitioner with leadership experience who is ready to take the next step.

The Role
As Head of Mathematics, you will have full responsibility for the strategic leadership, performance and development of the Mathematics department. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing clear vision and inspirational leadership for the Maths department
Developing, implementing and reviewing an ambitious Mathematics curriculum across KS3, KS4 and, where applicable, KS5
Raising standards of teaching, learning and assessment to secure consistently strong outcomes
Using data effectively to track progress, identify underachievement and implement targeted intervention
Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Maths teachers, including ECTs where applicable
Quality assuring teaching through lesson observations, work scrutiny and professional dialogue
Overseeing exam preparation and contributing to sustained improvement in GCSE results
Managing departmental resources and contributing to budget planning
Embedding high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement
Working closely with senior leaders to support academy-wide priorities and improvement plans
Person Specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one – essential
A strong subject specialism in Mathematics
Proven experience delivering high-quality Maths teaching at secondary level
Previous leadership or management experience within a Maths department (or clear evidence of readiness to step into a leadership role)
Excellent knowledge of the national Maths curriculum and current assessment frameworks
Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
A clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and equality of opportunity
