(Fixed Term Contract – Temp to Perm Potential)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceEducate Staffing is working in partnership with a welcoming Alternative Provision school in West Drayton, Hillingdon, to recruit a passionate and creative Art & Design / Technology Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is committed to inspiring young people who may have struggled in mainstream education, equipping them with both creative skills and practical life skills.
This role is to start immediately and will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract, with the strong possibility of becoming permanent.
The Role
As an Art & Design / Technology Teacher in an Alternative Provision setting, you will deliver engaging lessons across Art & Design, Design & Technology, and Food Technology at KS3 and KS4. You will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic progress while also helping them develop vocational skills, life skills, and confidence. You will work with students who may have challenging behaviour, SEN needs, or other barriers to learning, providing a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Art & Design, Design & Technology, and Food Technology to KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Plan, deliver, and assess lessons tailored to meet diverse learning needs in an AP setting.
Inspire students to express their creativity while developing practical, transferable skills.
Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Implement effective behaviour management strategies, supporting students with challenging behaviour.
Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support holistic student development.
Contribute to enrichment activities and wider school life.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, though strong unqualified teachers with relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 students.
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, particularly in an AP or similar setting.
Experience supporting pupils with SEN and/or behavioural needs.
A passion for teaching that combines creativity with vocational learning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
