Job Type: 8am -4pm, September Start
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £140 - £200 a day
The Role: Humanities Teacher – Tower Hamlets
You will teach History up to A-Level, bringing to life key historical events, debates, and interpretations, and support students in developing their analytical and evaluative skills. At GCSE, you’ll deliver engaging and accessible lessons in Geography and Religious Education, encouraging students to explore diverse cultures, ethical issues, and global challenges. You’ll be part of a supportive Humanities department with access to excellent resources and collaborative planning.
You will work at a Secondary School which values curiosity, critical thinking, and compassion. They believe that the Humanities are essential for helping young people understand the world around them – past, present, and future. As a Humanities Teacher will be expected to:
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons Geography, Religious studies to KS3-KS4 students and History to KS3 – KS5
- Create a stimulating learning environment that promotes curiosity, respect, and critical thinking
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school and exam board expectations
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to support all learners, including SEN and EAL pupils
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities within the Humanities department
- Support students’ personal development, wellbeing, and academic ambition through pastoral care
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management in line with school policies
- Liaise effectively with parents, colleagues, and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
- Participate in professional development and actively engage with school life and events
Qualifications and requirements –Humanities Teacher – Tower Hamlets
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Experience teaching History at KS5 and Geography/RE at KS4
- A deep understanding of the Humanities curriculum and exam board requirements
- A reflective, innovative approach to teaching and learning
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- A commitment to supporting the personal and academic development of every student
