Job Title: School Receptionist
Job Type: 8am – 4pm, September Start
Location: Sutton
Salary: £96 - £110 Per day
The Role: School Receptionist – Sutton
As the first point of contact, the receptionist plays a key role in creating a warm, professional, and organised front office environment. You will be responsible for greeting visitors, parents, and pupils with a friendly and approachable manner, while managing incoming calls, emails, and general administrative duties. This is a varied and rewarding role that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a busy school setting. You’ll work closely with the administrative and leadership teams to support the smooth day-to-day running of the school, always ensuring a high standard of customer service and confidentiality.
A School Receptionist will be expected to:
- Greet visitors, parents, pupils, and staff in a professional and friendly manner, ensuring safeguarding protocols (e.g. signing in and ID checks) are followed.
- Manage incoming calls and emails, responding to enquiries or directing them to the appropriate staff member.
- Coordinate appointments, maintain visitor logs, and manage meeting room bookings when required.
- Provide general administrative support including photocopying, filing, scanning, and handling post.
- Assist pupils who come to the office for various needs (e.g. first aid, forgotten items, late arrivals).
- Record student absences and late arrivals accurately, following up with parents or carers as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and update school systems, databases, and registers as required.
- Distribute school newsletters, texts, and notifications using school communication platforms.
- Ensure all data is handled securely and sensitively in line with school policies and GDPR.
- Assist with preparation for school events, trips, and meetings when needed.
Qualifications and requirements – School Receptionist – Sutton
- Experience working on SIMS
- Experience working in a similar school administration/Receptionist role
- Enhanced DBS is required
- Excellent IT literacy in using Microsoft software e.g. outlook, Word, Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
