Job Title: School Caretaker

Job Type: 8am – 4pm

Location: Tower Hamlets  

Salary: Up to £22 an hour  

The Role: School Caretaker – Tower Hamlets  

As a School Caretaker, you will support the upkeep and safety of three school sites across Tower Hamlets. You will take responsibility for diagnosing and addressing maintenance issues efficiently and professionally. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical and general maintenance skills. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that the schools remain safe, operational, and welcoming environments for pupils, staff, and visitors

A School Caretaker will be expected to:

• Diagnose and carry out routine maintenance across all three sites
• Conduct basic repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating, and mechanical systems
• Perform regular health and safety checks, identifying and resolving potential hazards
• Liaise with contractors and specialist services where necessary
• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and emergencies
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, works carried out, and equipment status
• Support site cleanliness, security, and seasonal site preparations

Qualifications and requirements – School Caretaker – Tower Hamlets

• Enhanced DBS is required
• Proven experience in a maintenance or caretaker role, ideally in a school or public setting
• Basic plumbing and electrical repair skills
• Ability to diagnose faults and carry out hands-on repairs
