Support Worker – SEN Secondary School
Location: Harrow, London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time (5 days per week)We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join a specialist SEN secondary school in Harrow. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, supporting young people with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, and PMLD.
Role Overview:
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping students access education and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to provide tailored support, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs
- Assist with personal care where required, particularly for students with PMLD
- Support students with behavioural, emotional, and social development
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and incidents where necessary
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young adults with SEN (ASD, ADHD, PMLD desirable)
- A valid Child and Adult DBS (either issued within the last 12 months or registered on the Update Service)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
